PacificLight Plans Explained: No-Lock-In vs Fixed-Term Options

Last updated: 12 September 2026

PacificLight is the only retailer this site tracks that offers genuine no-contract plans alongside its fixed-term ones. That split — commit for a term and get a lower rate, or stay flexible at a higher one — runs through its entire lineup.

The no-contract plans

Easy Peasy and Easy Save both carry no minimum term and no early termination charges, which is genuinely unusual on this site — every other retailer's cheapest rates require at least a 12-month commitment.

PlanStructureEffective rate now
Easy PeasyFixed, 26.00¢/kWh flat26.00¢/kWh
Easy Save18% off SP tariff28.52¢/kWh

Easy Peasy is currently the single cheapest plan tracked anywhere on this site — cheaper than every fixed-term plan from any retailer, with no lock-in at all. Easy Save is priced as a straight 18% discount off the SP tariff instead of a flat rate, so its effective rate moves each quarter along with the tariff — see our SP tariff guide for how that works.

Savvy Saver — one plan, three terms

TermRate
36 months29.40¢/kWh
24 months29.80¢/kWh
12 months31.00¢/kWh

Savvy Saver follows the usual pattern — longer commitment, lower rate — and its rates line up almost exactly with the cheapest fixed plans from Senoko Energy, Tuas Power, and Geneco at the same terms, suggesting this is close to the market rate for a plain fixed-rate plan right now rather than something specific to PacificLight.

The two plans that break the pattern

Sunny Side-Up (12 months, 31.50¢/kWh) is priced slightly above Savvy Saver's own 12-month rate, and Save While Sleeping (24 months, 34.50¢/kWh) is priced well above Savvy Saver's 24-month rate despite the identical term — both are flat fixed rates, not time-of-use plans, so whatever makes them worth the higher price isn't reflected in the headline rate alone. Check what's bundled with each on PacificLight's own site before picking one of these over the equivalent Savvy Saver term.

Classic 60 — a 5-year commitment for a small discount

Classic 60 is PacificLight's longest plan by far — a 60-month term — priced as just a 3% discount off the SP tariff, currently working out to 33.74¢/kWh. That's a smaller discount than Easy Save's 18% (no lock-in at all) or Savvy Saver's fixed rates at a fraction of the commitment, so the trade-off only makes sense if you specifically want price certainty locked in for five years and expect the SP tariff to rise well above today's rate over that stretch.
