The SP electricity tariff is the regulated, GST-inclusive rate set for Singapore's default electricity supply, reviewed quarterly by SP Group. It's the benchmark most retailer plans are priced against — a "discount off tariff" plan, for example, is priced as a percentage discount off this rate. This page shows the current SP tariff and its 5-year trend at the top.

The best electricity plan depends on your monthly usage and whether you prefer a fixed rate, a discount off the SP tariff, or a peak/off-peak structure. A fixed-rate electricity plan locks in one rate for your contract term, so your cost per kWh doesn't change even if the SP tariff rises. A discount-off-tariff plan moves with the SP tariff, which can be cheaper when tariffs fall but more expensive when they rise. There's no universally "better" option — it depends on your risk tolerance and how long you plan to stay with a retailer.

Estimated monthly bill = effective rate (¢/kWh) × your monthly usage (kWh), divided by 100. For discount-off-tariff plans, the effective rate is recalculated live from the current SP tariff every time it changes, so the estimate always reflects today's numbers rather than a stale snapshot. It's an estimate for comparison purposes — your actual bill also depends on your retailer's billing cycle and any other charges.
