Geneco Plans Explained: Give Us A Try vs Get It Fixed

Geneco's residential lineup is built around one pricing idea — a fixed rate for the length of your contract — but offered at three different contract lengths with a clear trade-off between commitment and rate. Here's how the three fixed-rate plans actually compare, using their current published rates.

What the numbers tell you
At the time of writing, Give Us A Try and Get It Fixed 12 are priced identically — the 6-month plan doesn't cost extra for the shorter commitment, it's simply the same rate for half the contract length. Get It Fixed 24 is the only plan of the three priced lower, rewarding the longer 24-month commitment. In other words: Geneco isn't charging a premium for flexibility here, it's offering a discount for commitment — the 6- and 12-month options exist to give you an easy way in or out, not a cheaper rate.
Which one suits you
- Just moved, or trying Geneco out — Give Us A Try gives you a short commitment at the same rate as the 12-month plan, so there's no cost to keeping your options open for 6 months.
- Want a full year of price certainty — Get It Fixed 12 costs the same as the 6-month option but locks your rate for twice as long, which only makes sense if you were planning to stay anyway.
- Comfortable committing for 2 years — Get It Fixed 24 is the cheapest of the three, and worthwhile if you don't expect to move or want to switch retailers again soon.
Geneco also lists a peak/off-peak plan (Get It 7 To 7) with a lower off-peak rate and higher peak rate — worth a look if your household's usage is genuinely concentrated outside 7am–7pm, though for most households a flat-rate plan is simpler to reason about.
